How To Apply

To apply for advertised vacancies you are required to submit an application before the closing date, and please note that they may be typed or handwritten. If applying for more than one position, a separate application is required for each position as the selection criteria will differ.

Remember, your application plays a vital role in the selection process. This is your first contact with the selection committee and it will determine whether or not you gain an interview. Make your application clear, concise and relevant to the specific requirements of the job as advertised. Do not clutter your application with unnecessary information.

Your application should consist of three parts:

1.      Application for Employment Cover Sheet

You are required to complete an Application for Employment Cover Sheet to provide important information to the selection committee. This document is available for downloading from the links below. Simply select the one which best suits your software:

2.      Letter of Application

This needs to specifically address the selection criteria. Selection is made on the basis of merit against the nominated selection criteria. Therefore, each application must address the essential criteria as well as the desirable criteria (if applicable). Each of the selection criteria should be addressed separately and you should, wherever possible, include examples that demonstrate your capabilities and achievements. This is particularly relevant for the essential criteria.

3.      A Resume

Your resume should detail all the information the selection committee needs to know about you. Your resume may include an Employment History, listing major positions held in chronological order, with the latest position held listed first. Indicate dates the positions were held, responsibilities and main duties and job grading so that the panel can see what period your experience covers.

Your resume should also provide the selection committee with a summary of your educational qualifications; any awards received and memberships of professional bodies; your area of specialisation and broader interests, and your main accomplishments to date. The original or certified copy of your highest qualification will need to be provided if you are successful in being offered a position.
