Clinical confidence meets coastal bliss

Krishna, a Bachelor of Nursing student from Nepal, has found his calling at the University of Newcastle, embracing the opportunities and lifestyle of a globally-recognised university, in a stunning seaside location.

Krishna's journey to the University of Newcastle began with a desire to pursue a rewarding career in nursing. "I was drawn to nursing for its compassionate nature and the diverse opportunities it offers in healthcare," Krishna explains. His decision was reinforced by the university's strong reputation and the career development opportunities it provides.

The practical aspects of his degree have been a highlight for Krishna. "The clinical placements and on-campus simulations have been invaluable, enhancing my confidence and skills in real-world healthcare settings," he shares.

Krishna studies primarily at the Callaghan campus, where he benefits from the state-of-the-art lab facilities and healthcare equipment. "The resources available here have significantly contributed to my learning and professional development," he notes.

His career aspirations are clear: to work in the nursing field and eventually become a Nurse Practitioner. "I am passionate about making a difference in people's lives through nursing," Krishna states.

For prospective international students, Krishna offers encouraging advice: "The University of Newcastle provides a supportive environment with excellent academic support, world-class lab spaces, and a vibrant student community. It's a great place to learn and grow."

The scholarship he received from the University of Newcastle played a crucial role in his journey. "The scholarship relieved financial burdens during the challenging COVID pandemic, allowing me to focus on my studies," he gratefully acknowledges.

Krishna's experience working as an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) in hospitals and aged care facilities has further bolstered his practical skills and confidence. "These experiences have been instrumental in preparing me for a successful nursing career," he reflects.

Living in Newcastle, Krishna enjoys the coastal lifestyle, with swimming and coastal walks being his favourite leisure activities. "The natural beauty and relaxed atmosphere of Newcastle make it a wonderful place to live and study," he says.
