Career Summary

Biography

I received my PhD from Newcastle University in 2002. I have taught in both Aboriginal Studies and Literature. My research interests are in children's literature, Indigenous literature and Australian literature.

Research Expertise
My doctorate examine non-Indigenous representations of Indigenality in Australian children's literature. My first ARC Indigenous researchers grant looked at what young Murri youth liked to read. My second ARC Indigenous researchers grant is examining what "reading" actually means for Indigenous tertiary students. My ARC Discovery project with Professor Nancy Wright and Dr. Therese Davis is examining Indigenous and non-Indigenous collaboration in film and literature.

Teaching Expertise
I have taught in Aboriginal Studies since 1999. I also taugh in the School of Language and Media from 1999 to 2002. I taught with the Learning and Teaching Support Unit at the University of Southern Queensland from 2003 - 2006.

Administrative Expertise
I have to stay on top of administrative issues for both teaching and research.
