Admission to Candidature

1. In order to be admitted to candidature for the degree an applicant shall:

(a) have completed the requirements for admission to the degree of Bachelor of Music of the University or other relevant degree at a standard approved for this purpose by the Pro Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of the Head of the Conservatorium; or

(b) produce evidence of possessing such other qualifications as may be approved by the Pro Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of the Head of the Conservatorium;

(c) have completed such other work prescribed in accordance with the policy determined by the Pro Vice-Chancellor on the recommendation of the Head of the Conservatorium; and

(d) complete the Performance Quality Assessment consisting of an audition in which the candidate must demonstrate musical expertise at a level satisfactory to the Head of the Conservatorium.

Qualifications for Admission to the Degree

2. To qualify for admission to the degree a candidate shall pass a program of study approved by the Academic Senate totalling 80 units at the 4000 level.

Classes of Honours

3. There shall be three classes of Honours, Class 1, Class II and Class III. Class II shall have two divisions, namely Division I and Division 2.

Time Requirements

4. A candidate shall complete the program in not less than one year and not more than two years except with the permission of the Pro Vice-Chancellor.
