Career Summary
Biography
Sarah is the Deputy Director of the University of Newcastle Legal Centre (UNLC) and is a clinical supervisor of students within the Practice Program. She also teaches within the Law School Practice Program and the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) Program.
Sarah is admitted to the Supreme Court of NSW, the ACT and the High Court of Australia. Sarah was first admitted to practice in 1995. Sarah’s expertise is in wills and estates, elder law issues and general civil disputes. She has worked at the UNLC since 2003. She regularly presents seminars to the general public in the areas of Wills, Power of Attorney and Enduring Guardian documents. Sarah has a particular interest in clinical legal education and has been involved in the Law on the Beach Program since its inception. She enjoys assisting students to apply their academic legal knowledge in a practical setting, whilst also being able to provide free legal advice to members of the community who may otherwise struggle to obtain legal assistance.
Prior to her role at UNLC, Sarah was a solicitor in the commercial litigation area at Mallesons Stephen Jaques (Canberra)(now King Wood Mallesons) and Clayton Utz (Canberra). During her employment at Clayton Utz she undertook a secondment to the Australia New Zealand Food Authority (Cth). During this time she served as a Board member and Director of the ACT Welfare Rights and Legal Service and was a member of the ACT Law Society Complaints Committee.
