Career Summary
Biography
I currently work as an independent communication intermediary/ accredited witness intermediary facilitating communication for vulnerable people, including children, both at police investigative interviews and when they give evidence at court. I assess communication and provide recommendations to those in the justice system how best to communicate with the vulnerable person who may be a victim, witness, suspect or defendant.
I facilitate communication in criminal, civil, and migrant/refugee matters.
I am also a certified practicing Speech and Language Pathologist with over 20+ years experience working with children, adolescents and adults with a range of communication-based difficulties and disorders such as Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, ADHD, Down's Syndrome, Selective/Elective Mutism and other language and learning difficulties. Being from a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse background, I have a special interest in bilingual/ multilingual communication and people from Migrant/ Refugee/ Asylum Seeker backgrounds.
I am a PhD candidate researching how intermediaries can provide access to justice and effective communication for vulnerable people, especially those with disabilities in the justice process.
