Career Summary
Biography
Nora's doctoral research focused on the connections between a Singapore education and experience to professional success. Her study explored the perceptions of the nation’s most publicly successful people, to investigate what their education and experience have got to do with their successful careers.
She has worked in various academic and professional roles within higher education that revolved around the 360-degree lifecycle of a university student. Hence, she is experienced in teaching, administration, management and leadership.
She possesses key interests in student success and engagement, international student recruitment and THE international student experience at the tertiary sector.
In 2023, Nora was the recipient of the Outstanding Innovation and Student Success Award presented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Vice-President of the University of Newcastle. The award was presented in recognition of her effective teaching methods and positive influence among her international students.
She was also a STEM/Arts Pioneer Nominee for the Women Acknowledging Women (WAW) Award in 2020. The nomination recognised quiet achievers who have shown passion and outstanding dedication in their field.
In 2017, Nora was the recipient of the Resident of The Year Award where her leadership contributions and culture change within the University’s on-campus community was acknowledged. The award was issued by the Dean of Students and UON Student Living.
She was also selected and sponsored to attend the annual National Association of Australian University Colleges (NAAUC) Conference at Macquarie University in mid-2016.
