Career Summary
Biography
My research focuses on new media and social change, with a particular emphasis on the civic and political implications of communication technologies. In general, I mainly conduct quantitative studies in five primary areas:
1) Digital media use and political consequences
2) Dynamics of news media, political institutions, and the public
3) Strategic roles of digital media in advertising and public engagement
4) Online public opinion and social changes
5) Misinformation and fact-checking
Prior to joining the University of Newcastle, I was an assistant professor and Head of the MA in Communication Programme (Communication Studies Concentration) at Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University. I have taught into media and communication courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at three public universities in Hong Kong since 2017. In addition to the working experience in academia, I previously worked as a journalist in the People's Daily Overseas Edition in mainland China and as a PR practitioner in Yang Jin Lin New Media (International) Limited in Hong Kong.
