Career Summary
Biography
I commenced at UON in 2003 as a Tertiary Supervisor, passionate about coaching and mentoring new and beginning teachers due to my background in secondary teaching and leadership in schools. This role led to my academic appointment as a tutor and lecturer, teaching within the School of Education's Secondary Teacher Education programs, and then extended to leadership roles as the Master of Teaching School Liaison Officer (2015-2016), Secondary Placement Coordinator (2017-2022) and Student and Placement Success Coordinator (2022).
During my time as an educator, I have developed a deep passion for supporting others, specifically in relation to their well-being and mental health. In 2023, after almost 20 years of working at UON within Teacher Education programs, I returned to the classroom and mentored volunteer teachers with not-for-profit Ethics education provider, Primary Ethics Ltd. I completed a Diploma of Counselling alongside this role.
In 2024 I returned to UON to work with the Counselling and Psychological Services, Preventative Programs team as a Project Officer running the NUmates social connections program for International Students. This program was Highly Commended in the category of Student Engagement at the 2024 DVC (Academic) awards ceremony.
In June 2024, I was employed by the Office of the DVC (Academic) as a Conduct and Appeals Officer. Within this role I work with a dedicated team in matters relating to the Student Conduct Rule; liaising with staff across the University including Student Living, Campus Care, Student Advocates and Academic Staff. I look forward to continuing this role in 2025.
