Alan Johnson is an Occupational Therapist with a creative arts background who trained in the UK, and currently works at Morisset Psychiatric Rehabilitation Hospital. He is currently embarking on a Masters to research the Arts In Recovery program.

AIR (Arts in Recovery) is a project which provides opportunities for consumers who experience mental illness to participate in workshops and exhibitions which promote and celebrate their skills and talent in visual arts. It also provides consumers with a place for social support and skills development whilst developing self-esteem and engaging the wider community to challenge stigma and develop a positive view of mental health. The AIR is facilitated by mental health consumers and a group of mental health workers from different settings: public mental health services and community organisations.
