Biography

Md Akhtaruzzaman is a Lecturer in Finance at the University of Newcastle. He received his PhD from the University of Newcastle, Australia. Akhtaruzzaman’s main teaching areas are financial institutions management, corporate finance, investments and business analysis. His research interests include asset pricing, financial contagion, interest rate risk and capital adequacy. He has published articles in Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money and Applied Economics, among others. Outside of academia he worked as the Managing Director of SimArch Asia Pte Ltd in Singapore and Assistant Vice President of Mercantile Bank Limited in Bangladesh.

Research Expertise
My current research interests include asset pricing, financial contagion, interest rate risk and capital adequacy of banks. Reviewer for A-ranked journals: Applied Economics and Quantitative Finance.
