I have been discipline head since 1997 and have also served as Head of School (Population Health Sciences) and deputy head of school (Medicine and Population Health) at different times. I am Director of the Newcastle Institute of Public Health and Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Training in Pharmaco-economics and Rational Pharmacotherapy at the University of Newcastle. I am chair of medical staff council of the Newcastle Mater Hospital and have served on multiple committees, including ethics committees of the University and health service. I have been a member of several national committees concerned with drug regulation and for 8 years chaired the economics subcommittee of the Commonwealth governments Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee
