Career Summary

Biography

I have always held a fascination for the human brain and, after being exposed to the EEG/event-related potential (ERP) method in my undergraduate studies, began a research project using ERPs for my Honours year. This then extended into a PhD. My PhD was awarded in 2006 and investigated the time-course of the interference effect in the Stroop task.

I have worked on a variety of studies investigating visual attention, face processing, specific reading disorder / selective language impairment and schizophrenia, with ERP methodology as the common thread. After a career break I am now working on an ARC-grant funded project investigating emotional facial expression and its influences on cognitive processes.

I am also a casual academic in the School of Psychology, lecturing and tutoring at 1st and 3rd year levels and co-supervising Honours students in the Ourimbah ERP laboratory.

17/01/2005 - 2/02/2007 Research Officer

In this role I managed the MACCS ERP lab and worked primarily for Professor Genevieve McArthur on a study investigating the effect of sound training on sound discrimination and ERPs in children with SRD and SLI. I also worked on several face processing studies overseeing honours and PhD students in the ERP lab.
