Biography
Laurence Boulle has been Belle Wiese of Legal Ethics (fractional) at the Newcastle Law School since 2017. He teaches mainly the Commercial Dispute Resolution subject to both undergraduate and graduate students. Laurence coached the Newcastle team at the International Chamber of Commerce Mediation Competition in early 2019 and in December 2018 was co-supervisor of the student study tour to Cambodia.
Laurence Boulle is based in Sydney and the Gold Coast, has held senior appointments at three Australian universities and has taught at four others. He has been visiting Professor at Gent University in Belgium, the University of Cape Town in South Africa and the University of the South Pacific in Vanuatu and Fiji.
After several years in legal practice Laurence became an academic and shortly thereafter established a mediation practice. For nearly 30 years he has mediated a wide variety of disputes in different states and territories, and abroad: community, family, native title, general commercial, workers' compensation, personal injury, intellectual property,workplace and organisational. He has conducted dispute resolution workshops and seminars in all states and territories and in 12 overseas countries - from the Cook Islands to Sweden.
Laurence's latest book is Laurence Boulle and Rachael Field, Mediation in Australia (LexisNexis, Sydney, 2018). He has written, co-authored or edited over 20 other books on mediation, constitutional law, globalisation, employment law and mediation. His books have been published in seven countries.
