2015 Community Acknowledgement of Research Excellence award
The University of Newcastle's (UON) Priority Research Centre for Physical Activity and Nutrition initiative: Healthy Dads, Healthy Kids (HDHK) has been awarded a 2015 Community Acknowledgement of Research Excellence for Achievement in Quality Improvement.
The award, from Hunter Children's Research Foundation, recognises initiatives that demonstrate excellence in the community.
A world-first initiative, HDHK is a multi-award winning evidence-based obesity prevention program that incorporates education for fathers and children regarding nutrition and physical activity.
The program, led by UON's Professor Philip Morgan is unique in that it incorporates specifically designed fun evidence-based physical activity sessions with the kids and engages dads and kids to work together to improve family health.
