Logging into the WCMS

1. Gain access

• Complete your training. Once you have completed the beginner publishing module, we will give you permissions to publish in squiz. Please fill out this form to get started.

2. Log in

• Use _edit. The easiest way to access the WCMS is to navigate to the page you wish to edit and adding /_edit at the end of your URL. For example if you wanted to edit http://www.newcastle.edu.au/research your URL would look like http://www.newcastle.edu.au/research/_edit
• Log in with your credentials. You will then be prompted to log in to WCMS. Use your numberplate and the same password you use to log in to your email.
• Publish where you have access. Web publishers only have access to the areas that they are authorised to publish in. This means that if your content is in the Learning section of the Current Students area of the site, you will have access to publish in that area only. Some publishers have content in several areas so will have access to all of those areas.

Can I access the WCMS from a phone or tablet?

As the website and WCMS are browser based, the simple answer is yes. Where you have a browser, you can access the WCMS.

However, users may find it easier to use a full size screen if a lot of editing or uploading is needed.

How do I exit safe edit?

You can get an asset out of "Safe Edit" by updating the status on the Details screen to "Cancel Safe Edit", and saving the asset.
