Consider your early entry options
Our Schools Recommendations Scheme offers early entry and guaranteed accommodation and scholarship opportunities for eligible students.
Current Year 12 students can apply. Applicants can be considered for early entry based on your Year 11 results and recommendations from your school through the SRS.
This is available for entry into all degrees excluding Medicine and Midwifery.
Apply: UAC before 19 September 2022

Admission Options
Make sure you list the University of Newcastle as your first preference in UAC.
Your ATAR is important, but it isn’t all that matters. This program rewards students who have excelled in certain HSC subjects related to your degree with an early offer. To be eligible, just make sure you list the University of Newcastle as your first preference in UAC for December Round 2, no additional application required.
You may be eligible for up to 12 adjustment points. Your selection rank is your ATAR plus any adjustment points. Use your selection rank to gain entry into your dream degree. Be sure to have the University of Newcastle as your first preference for your best chance of getting in.

Through this scheme, you can receive up to four additional adjustment points if you have experienced educational or other disadvantages.
Apply: UAC (Tick the EAS box) before 22 November 2022 to receive your eligibility letter.
Depending on the degree you choose, you may be awarded up to four adjustment points for your HSC results in particular subjects.

Enabling Pathway Programs
Missed the mark in your HSC? We have enabling pathways to help you get started.
This is a FREE pathway program for people who do not have the qualifications required for direct entry into an undergraduate degree. Open Foundation offers flexible study options including full-time, part-time and online study.
This pathway program is designed for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people to gain entry into undergraduate degrees. Yapug offers flexible study options including full-time and part-time study. To be eligible, you must be over 18 years of age and have confirmation of your indigeneity.
The Diploma in Engineering has been designed to provide a core knowledge base that prepares you with the appropriate academic literacy, research, science, mathematics and introductory engineering skills required to go onto further study or into the workforce. Complete full-time (in one year) or part-time (up to 4 years) and receive credit and entry into one of our Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degrees.

Our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Program supports students to gain entry into our degrees.
The Indigenous Early Entry Scheme gives Indigenous students an opportunity to gain early entry to our Bachelor of Laws (Honours) Combined degree.
Many of our successful students come to us after completing TAFE studies. You can gain guaranteed entry into many of our 2022 undergraduate programs if you have previously completed an accredited Certificate IV, Diploma, or Advanced Diploma at TAFE or another registered training organisation (RTO).
The Refugee Early Entry Scheme gives students with refugee status an opportunity to gain early entry to our Bachelor of Laws (Honours) Combined degree.
We recognise your TAFE qualifications as an equivalent estimated ATAR which you can use to gain entry into our enabling pathways.
