Maintenance and cleaning


If you have any maintenance issues in your room or shared living areas, then you will need to lodge a maintenance request via the Student Living portal.

You can log a request in 5 easy steps:

  1. Log into the Student Living portal
  2. Click the 'maintenance and cleaning' tab
  3. For shared spaces, click 'shared' otherwise stay on the page
  4. Fill out the maintenance form
  5. Click 'submit'

These requests are looked after by your friendly facilities officers or contractors as soon as possible. For urgent maintenance requests, please call Student Living on 4913 8888 for further assistance.


A non-urgent request refers to:

  • Missing kettles, toasters or lamps
  • Loose or broken towel rails
  • Loose toilet seats
  • TV malfunctioning
  • Vacuum malfunctioning

An urgent request could refer to:

  • Plumbing - blocked toilet, sink, shower, major leak
  • Electrical outage - power points not working, no lights, fridge not working
  • Mechanical - lifts not working, no hot water
  • Roof leaks
  • Security and keys - room access, building access, damaged locks/doors
  • Broken windows
  • Any other issues posing immediate threats to health and safety of residents or staff

For all urgent requests, please log a general maintenance request AND THEN contact Student Living or the AHDO for assistance on 4913 8888.


Cleaning services and equipment

Throughout the accommodation precinct, there are many shared spaces like common rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. As part of the Student Living community, it's your responsibility to keep these spaces clean and tidy.

Housekeeping services are provided to all units and studios on a weekly basis, but will only be undertaken if these areas are sufficiently tidy to facilitate cleaning. Common rooms and study spaces are checked daily and cleaned as needed and barbecue areas are cleaned weekly or as required.

The cleaners do not clean your bedroom, so you'll need to keep your own space tidy. You are also responsible for cleaning appliances (like toasters, microwaves etc.), washing up and putting away clean dishes/cutlery, vacuuming and putting your rubbish in the correct bins in your unit.

But don't worry! You don't need to bring cleaning equipment with you. Residents have access to a communal cleaning cupboard within their floor or block that includes a vacuum, a mop and a bucket.


Pest control

Any suspicion or evidence of pests should be reported through the Student Living Portal and will then be inspected and managed by facilities staff. Residents are not permitted to treat or manage pest infestations and pest bombs and room sprays are prohibited from use in the residences. Costs incurred and repairs for damage to the residences resulting from the use of pest treatment and room sprays will be passed on to residents responsible for the event.
