Facilities and inclusions
Student Living residents have access to a variety of facilities exclusive to them, including common rooms, swimming pools, BBQ areas and heaps more!
Electricity, gas and water are all included in your weekly room fee.
Wired service (Ethernet port/s) is available in bedrooms and there is wireless internet connection (Wi-Fi) in the Common Areas.
The wired and wireless networks available throughout the University’s Student Accommodation precincts are part of the wider University corporate network. As such, access to this network is subject to the University’s Information Technology Conditions of Use policy.
Your safety is our top priority. All rooms are individually keyed, protected with access cards and fully maintained.
There is also 24/7 security and CCTV throughout the precinct.
Student Living maintains two outdoor swimming pools for residents to use throughout the year to cool off. One is located at Edwards Hall and the other is at International House, but all residents (not just Teds and IH!) are welcome to use them. Both pools are open from 9am - 10pm every day during spring and summer, but are closed during winter for essential cleaning and maintenance.
For your safety, please do not enter the pools when they are closed or being cleaned, and please do not jump from a height into the pool as you risk injuring yourself.
Always make sure that you practice sun safety and wear sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and cover ups. There is free sunscreen available for residents to use at the West Tower office.
All of our residences have multiple common rooms and study spaces for residents to take advantage of.
These spaces are used mostly for socialising (including some events) and contain equipment that may include stereo systems, televisions, foosball/ping pong tables, pool tables and lounges. While the common rooms are cleaned, it is the responsibility of residents to make sure the rooms and the provided equipment are looked after and tidied up after they are used - just like it would be at home.
If you notice a problem with any of the equipment, log a maintenance request on the Student Living Portal and we'll take a look!
Please note: if the equipment in these common spaces aren't treated with respect, it will be removed.
There are 14 laundry spaces at Callaghan and one laundry space at Ourimbah. In total, 69 new washing machines and 69 new dryers have been installed. The laundry spaces are available for current Student Living residents to use 24/7.
A minimum balance of $2.50 is required to activate a machine at Callaghan. Blue Gum House residents are required to set up a laundry account, however they are not required to pay for laundry facilities as per their accommodation contract.
Follow these 5 simple steps to pay for your washing and drying via mobile:
- Register a laundry account at uon.eziwash.com.au using your student email. Note down your login details so it’s always easy to sign back in when you’re ready to do a load.
- Top up your account using your debit or credit card. (Not required for Blue Gum House residents).
- Scan your phone over the QR code sticker on the machine (your phone will identify the machine).
- Confirm your service code.
- Start your machine.
These instructions are also displayed in each laundry space so you don't forget!
- Residents, new and returning, are required to register a laundry account.
- The laundry tile on the myUON app is no longer valid and has been removed from the app.
- If you had over $20 of credit left on your old laundry account from 2019, you will have received a refund last year. If you had less than $20 credit left on your laundry account, that amount has been transferred to your room fees.
- Residents are required to bring their own front-loader washing powders/fabric softener.
- The new laundry machines are cashless – you cannot activate the machines with coins.
Having technical issues?
If you are having technical issues using the EziWash website or the machines, please direct your concern to the EziWash team via email email@example.com or a phone 0416 015 321.
Throughout the accommodation precinct, there are many shared spaces like common rooms, kitchens and bathrooms. As part of the Student Living community, it's your responsibility to keep these spaces clean and tidy.
Housekeeping services are provided to all units and studios on a weekly basis, but will only be undertaken if these areas are sufficiently tidy to facilitate cleaning. Common rooms and study spaces are checked daily and cleaned as needed and barbecue areas are cleaned weekly or as required.
The cleaners do not clean your bedroom, so you'll need to keep your own space tidy. You are also responsible for cleaning appliances (like toasters, microwaves etc.), washing up and putting away clean dishes/cutlery, vacuuming and putting your rubbish in the correct bins in your unit.
But don't worry! You don't need to bring cleaning equipment with you. Residents have access to a communal cleaning cupboard within their floor or block that includes a vacuum, a mop and a bucket.
BBQ areas are provided in each residence for all residents to use for social occasions such as BBQ dinners with friends at Student Living. Please clean the BBQ and BBQ area when you are finished so that it is ready for others to use.
We encourage active travel at Student Living and we'd love for you to bring your bike when you come to live on-campus. We've got multiple bike sheds in the accommodation precinct for you to store your bike, so please don't leave your bike in your room or any common areas.
You can find the bike hubs in the precinct in three places:
- Between Evatt House and South Residence
- Next to the Green Room at International House
- Next to the Cutler Rec Room at Edwards Hall
You can also find bike racks around the precinct, but make sure to lock your bike up.
If you need a bike shed key, come and see us in the Student Living Office at West Tower.
There are also multiple bike hubs around campus so you can ride to class. To find out where they are, click here.
The Dining Hall is located at Edwards Hall, and for those who have meals included in their contract you are going to spend a lot of time here! You can find more information about Dining Hall hours, meal plans and the menu here.
Please note: residents must always wear shoes and covered clothing (no bikinis/swim wear or bare chests) and no alcohol can be consumed in the Dining Hall.
Show off your cooking skills in our large communal kitchen located on the ground floor of North Residence.
The kitchen offers:

While the communal kitchen is in North Residence all residents are able to use it. If you wish to host an event or take advantage of it with your friends, visit the Student Living Office during office hours (8:30am - 5:30pm) at West Tower for access.
If you're a keen musician that wants a place to jam without disturbing your roommates, we've got just the place for you!
There's a sound-proof music room located in South Residence with a piano provided, but it's up to you to bring anything else you may want.
You can also find a piano on the ground floor of North Residence, inside Edwards Hall and in the CAT Room at Evatt House.
Grab your popcorn, a bunch of friends and your favourite movie and head over to the in-house cinema in East Residence!
If you want to use the cinema, come to West Tower and speak to our customer service team for access.
If you're a Residential Mentor/Association member or a very keen resident and you want to host a movie night event, you'll need to complete an Event Application Form first.
