They say that, on average, it would take nine hours to present an eighty thousand-word thesis to an audience. Our competitors have just three minutes.

The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition is held annually between MPhil and PhD candidates from across the University. In just three minutes, using only a static slide, participants present their research – what they’re doing, how they’re doing it, and why. This year, the presentations were delivered virtually, with participants pre-recording their presentations.

Registered participants competed in School heats, with the winner of each heat progressing to the University's 3MT final on Wednesday 25 August 2021.

The winner and two runners-up were selected by a panel of judges, and the People's Choice Award was voted on by the public.
