With the theme: Sustainable Society, UON Singapore organised a Young Sustainability Innovators Challenge (YSIC) targeting pre-university students from Junior Colleges, Institute of Technical Education, Polytechnics, International Schools and Private Education Institutions in Singapore.
The main objective of this challenge is to kindle the idea of developing a sustainable society among the younger generation by encouraging the creation of products and/or services that are significant and innovative. At the same time, influence a sustainable and scalable technological and social impact in Singapore.

In February 2016, EDIT. – an online magazine was produced and launched by the Journalism Collective which consists of the Bachelor of Communication students from UON Singapore. This e-magazine is a student initiative developed to give students an experience as reporters and journalists. The students will also be exposed with a body of work to show to prospective employers.

UON Singapore is pleased to announce our first Bachelor of Communication (BCOMN) graduate who has gone on to complete a PhD in Communication and Media Arts. Denise Mohan Tan completed the BCOMN program from Singapore on 5 October 2010 and was a University Medallist. Denise is certainly the first to go through her entire studies with the University of Newcastle.

The University of Newcastle (UON) Singapore have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Institute of Public Relations of Singapore (IPRS) to launch a Student Chapter from the Bachelor of Communication (Major in Public Relations and Journalism).
