Anita Fernandez- Rios has more than 40 years of working experience as an engineer, management system auditor, consultant, trainer, and manager in the fields of environment and occupational health and safety for oil and gas, petrochemical, iron and steel, and copper processing operations, and construction industries in the Asia Pacific region. In the last 12 years, Anita has worked with companies in their legal compliance and sustainability programs. While working as a consultant or in-house engineer, Anita taught part-time with the University of Newcastle, Singapore campus, on environmental control practices and environmental impact assessment. Anita finished her bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, the University of Mindanao, Philippines, and took up post-graduate studies in Environmental Engineering at the University of the Philippines, Quezon City, Philippines. Anita is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experiences with organisations and individuals who want to contribute to the improvement of total quality, environment, health and safety performance of the team, the local company, and global operations. |

With over 15 years of professional experience in environmental, occupational health and safety and sustainability (EHS&S), Yen Sen has served more than 80 organizations as a consultant, auditor and trainer. She supports organizations in sustainability reporting, climate change disclosures, compliance audit, due diligence review, and EHS&S related standards such as ISO14001, ISO45001, ISO50001, ISO14064, ISO16745, GRI Standards and IFC Performance Standards on Social and Environmental Sustainability. She integrates EHS&S into business operations with the view that environmental performance, occupational safety and health, and general well-being of workers should and shall contribute to the broader sustainability efforts. Yen Sen’s track record in the EHS&S field spans a wide range of industries which include real estate and property development, facility management, oil and gas, chemical, power plant, pharmaceutical, electronics, aero-engine repair and overhaul, water and wastewater treatment, precision engineering, manufacturing, 3D printing, academic and research institution, military services, warehouse, retail, sports safety, remediation etc. Graduated with a BEng Environmental and MSc Environmental Management, Yen Sen currently lectures part-time at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Cardiff Metropolitan University (UK), Singapore campus, and University of Newcastle (UON) (Australia), Singapore campus. She was awarded the Excellence Teaching Awards for Sessional Academics – Faculty of Health and Medicine, by UON in 2016. |

Dr Chan was a Commonwealth Colombo Plan scholar who graduated with degrees in Veterinary Biology (Merit Honours) and Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (Ist class Honours) from Murdoch University, Western Australia. He returned to Singapore and obtained his PhD in molecular virology and epidemiology of human papillomaviruses at the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, National University of Singapore. In 1999 he moved from laboratory research to clinical epidemiology, becoming the Head of Evidence-based Medicine at the National Medical Research Council’s (NMRC) Clinical Trials and Epidemiology Research Unit (CTERU). Subsequently, he held the positions of Head of Biostatistics and Deputy Director. In 2005, he became the Director of the Singapore Centre (Cochrane Singapore) of the Cochrane Collaboration. He also helped to set up the National Registries of Disease Office, serving as the Head of Scientific Management. When CTERU was incorporated and expanded into the Singapore Clinical Research Institute, he served as Head of Epidemiology and is currently the Chief Scientific Officer, overseeing a team of biostatisticians, epidemiologists, and research monitors. He is also an Associate Professor at the Duke-NUS Medical School, where he teaches critical appraisal of the clinical research literature, clinical research methodology, evidence synthesis, and systematic reviews. He and his team have organized and taught over 300 clinical research methods workshops locally and abroad. He also serves as a NMRC grant peer reviewer and a committee member for research grant review, research manpower development, and clinical research ethical review. |

Zephan has extensive working experience as an occupational health, safety and environmental consultant to various industries and public organizations in Singapore and the region. He is currently serving as Director of Operations and heads the Occupational Hygiene team with The Institute of Occupational Medicine (Singapore Office). As an accredited trainer with the British Occupational Hygiene Society, Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (UK), and The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (UK), Zephan has trained many occupational hygienists and Health and safety professionals in Singapore and the region. He also actively volunteers for various professional associations, including serving as Vice-chairman in the IOSH Singapore branch, executive committee member with The Occupational and Environmental Health Society, and Head of membership committee with the National Safety Council of Singapore. |
