Applied Mathematics
The mathematics discipline within the Faculty of Science hosts a dynamic group of researchers in both pure and applied mathematics. Receiving 2018 Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) rankings of “above world standard” for both pure mathematics and applied mathematics, the discipline’s research including significant capacity in computational mathematics, mathematical modelling in nanotechnology and industrial applications, calculus of variations, theory and applications of ordinary and partial differential equations, Fourier analysis, symmetry and number theory.
