Our virtual reality teaching tool provides our education students with realistic teaching experiences in a simulated environment.
The School of Education has partnered with Murdoch University to enable our students to access SimTeach software to practice their teaching methods on a virtual class of student avatars.
Students teach mini-lessons to live performing actors appearing as a class of avatars, who role-play different student behaviours. The combination of real teaching in a simulated environment is an extension of a long-standing practice in education called microteaching, and allows students to practise their learning in a safe environment before heading out into a real classroom.
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
