Establishment

As part of its commitment to making a lasting difference to the community, Hunter Water Corporation is funding scholarships for students enrolled in Science, Business and Engineering. These scholarships are intended to support students from the areas serviced by Hunter Water so they may achieve their academic potential. Subject to availability, Hunter Water may also offer recipients opportunities to engage with the organisation through mentoring or site visits.

Applicable to: First year, 1st year, Newcastle Business School, Environmental, Life Sciences, Engineering, Hunter, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland, Cessnock, Singleton, Dungog, residents, Financially disadvantaged, Indigenous, ATSI, High Achievers

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled in a course offered through either the Newcastle Business School, School of Environmental & Life Sciences or School of Engineering
  • Not hold another scholarship of equivalent or more substantial benefit for the same program.
  • Be enrolled full-time (minimum 30 units).
  • Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Be a current resident of, or in the previous 12 months have resided in, a geographical area serviced by Hunter Water.
  • Be enrolling in the first year of your first undergraduate degree.

  • Provide a written statement outlining your career aspirations (An interest in water would be advantageous).
  • Provide evidence of hardship (including financial disadvantage, health concerns, disability, or carer responsibilities).
Benefit

Four (4) scholarships will be offered providing a benefit of $5,000 each.

The scholarship will be payable as two installments of $2,500, after each semester census date and provided ongoing eligibility is met.

Selection

Selection will be on the basis of:

  • Academic Merit, namely ATAR, or GPA
  • Evidence of hardship, including Financial Disadvantage, Health Concerns, Disability, Indigenous, or Carer Responsibilities will be considered
  • A written statement outlining their career aspirations (An interest in water would be advantageous).
