Scholarship details


This scholarship was established in 2015 to encourage and support exceptional students to commence their studies with the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment.

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be commencing in an undergraduate program within the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, University of Newcastle.
  • Have a minimum ATAR of 98.5, with adjustment factors NOT included.
  • Have completed a Year 12 Higher School Certificate in the year prior to commencement of the undergraduate program.
  • Be enrolled full-time.
  • Be studying on-campus at Callaghan.
  • Be an Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or New Zealand Citizen.

The scholarship benefit is $7,500 each year for the minimum duration of a program, with a total value of $30,000 over the maximum tenure of the scholarship.

The scholar will receive payments of $4,000 after Semester 1 census date, and $3,500 after Semester 2 census date each year, provided they remain eligible.

The advertised number of scholarships is indicative only - the faculty will aim to support all eligible applicants where funding allows.


Applications are not submitted for this scholarship. Scholarships are automatically awarded in Semester 1 and Semester 2 following admissions intake.

Applications will be assessed against the eligibility criteria and selection will be on the basis of Academic merit, namely Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR). Students within .05 of the required ATAR (eg 98.45) may apply as the faculty will consider these applications on a case-by-case basis.

Scholars receiving this scholarship remain eligible for the FEBE Relocation, Women in Engineering, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) Scholarships.

Scholars receiving this scholarship will not be eligible for the FEBE High Performing Student Program Scholarship or High Achiever Scholarship.
