Submission Dates and Response Times
There is no set closing date for:
- initial applications for Negligible or Low Risk Research
- registrations of external HREC approvals
- applications for Variations to approved research.
These applications are eligible for expedited review and will be reviewed as and when they are received.
The time taken to review and respond to applications will depend on the number of applications received. However, the aim is to provide a response in the following time frames:
- Negligible Risk Research: 7 to 14 days
- Low Risk Research: 4 to 6 weeks
Full review applications - More than Low Risk Research
More than Low Risk Research applications require review by the full Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC).
Applications can be submitted at any time or by the deadlines below if consideration at a specific HREC meeting is preferable.
Applications will be pre-reviewed by a HREC panel and feedback will be provided. A response to the pre-review feedback will need to be provided to finalise an application and for the application to be considered by the full committee. Only finalised applications will be reviewed by the full HREC.
The projected time for the HREC's formal decision to be communicated to the applicant is within 10 working days after the day of the meeting.
