Fulbright Support Program

The UON Fulbright Commission Support Program

A Fulbright award is more than a scholarship - it is, in the words of Senator Fulbright, a means of fostering "leadership, learning, and empathy between cultures..."

The University of Newcastle is extremely proud of its partnership with the Australian-American Fulbright Commission, which closely aligns with the Looking Ahead 2020-2025 strategic plan and the University’s research and innovation goals of facilitating collaborations on a regional, national and global scale.

What is Fulbright?

The Australian-American Fulbright Commission is a bi-national organisation with a long-standing international reputation for promoting excellence in research and education. The Fulbright Scholarships Program supports and nurtures American and Australian students, scholars, and professionals at many levels of their careers.

Awards sponsored by the University of Newcastle (U.S. candidates)

The Postdoctoral Scholarship is open to researchers who have completed their PhD in the past two to three years.

The application deadline for U.S. candidates is 15 September 2020. U.S. candidates must follow instructions on The Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) website for application submission.
