All users must complete an induction before using any EMX facilities, and be trained on the equipment they wish to use by unit staff. Users are prohibited from training other users or carrying out work for other people. All the equipment in the unit have Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) which must be followed and not changed. All our SOPs have been passed by the Chemical & Radiation Safety Committee.
If your project has potential hazards, you must provide a safety clearance number for the project. Please advise us of any hazards inherent in your samples BEFORE bringing them to the EMX. Users of XRD equipment must complete an X‐Ray safety course run by the university X‐Ray Safety Advisor before commencing work with the XRD instruments. The test at the end of the course must be passed and the certificate provided to EMX unit staff in .pdf format at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have any questions, please contact the EMX unit
