Biological mass spectrometry
The biological mass spectrometry sub-unit of the ABRF specialises in the analysis of proteins and peptides.
Nano-flow ultra performance liquid chromatography (LC) is utilised to physically separate compounds prior to analysis by Mass Spectrometry (MS) enabling highly sensitive and selective investigations of complex mixtures to be performed.
The ABRF is equipped with three nano-UPLCs directly coupled to MS systems.
The ABRF's Bruker UltrafleXtreme MALDI ToF/ToF is ideal for the high throughput identification of proteins from 1D and 2D SDS PAGE gel plugs by PMF or MS/MS, although more complex analyses are possible using our LC-MALDI spotting robot.
