Quality Teaching in Practice conference will be held on Thursday 5 and Friday 6 May 2022 at Four Seasons Hotel, Sydney.

The conference will bring together leading education researchers, policy makers, teachers and school leaders to share their insights, research, and best practice straight from the classroom.

Laureate Professor Jenny Gore presenting on Quality Teaching Rounds

A major focus of the conference will be the latest research on Quality Teaching Rounds, in particular its impact on students' academic outcomes. These findings have been investigated through the largest randomised controlled trial in Australian education history, conducted by the Teachers and Teaching Research Centre as part of its Building Capacity for Quality Teaching in Australian Schools project.

Through a program of keynotes, panel discussions, round tables and interactive workshops, delegates will also:

  • learn strategies for collecting, analysing and reporting on qualitative and quantitative data in their classrooms,
  • gain a deeper understanding of the Quality Teaching model and its elements,
  • discover ways in which schools in various contexts have implemented Quality Teaching Rounds, overcome challenges, ensured its sustainability, and evaluated its impact.

Quality Teaching in Practice is perfect for teachers and leaders of all experience levels, school stages and subject areas, as well as for policy makers, strategists, and professionals working in the education sector.

Building Capacity for Quality Teaching in Australian Schools

In 2018 the Teachers and Teaching Research Centre embarked on its pioneering Building Capacity for Quality Teaching in Australian Schools project after securing a $16.4M philanthropic grant from the Paul Ramsay Foundation.

The project builds on more than 15 years of research and development of Quality Teaching Rounds in collaboration with Australia's education systems, most notably the NSW Department of Education. Through the launch of the landmark Quality Teaching Academy, the Centre and its project partners aim to embed the Quality Teaching Rounds culture into schools across Australia.
