Yarning the Way
This project recognises that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are under-represented in higher education and that schools play an important role in supplying pathways to university. Key cultural and educational supports within schools are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education paraprofessionals (AEPs).
This project will be a first in-depth exploration of the role of AEPs in facilitating post school educational pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. It aims to provide insight into barriers and enablers that can be used to improve equity practice with schools and school-university partnership programs.
This project received Seed Funding from the Centre of Excellence for Equity in Higher Education and will be led by Equity Ambassadors Dr Erica Southgate and Dr Maree Gruppetta who will collaborate with Professor John Fischetti.
