Our Research (Global Innovation)

CEEHE holds rigorous, ethical and critical research together with ‘on-the-ground’ practice. Our small research team, led by Global Innovation Chair of Equity Professor Penny Jane Burke, presents critical work that actively engages with equity practice, pedagogy, and policy to challenge persistent inequalities in and beyond higher education.

Our research builds on and continues Professor Burke's work to develop praxis-based frameworks and pedagogical methodologies, drawing on, and weaving together, the work of many key critical and feminist scholars, including Freire, Foucault, Bourdieu, Butler and Frazer.

Our team grows through collaboration with leading and emerging critical scholars, practitioners and activists, both in Australia and internationally, who are pushing the boundaries of the field and examining critical issues of social justice.

The Centre makes an important contribution to the field of equity in higher education and supports developing research capacity through collaboration, mentorship and research programs with early career researchers, practitioners and policy makers.

“The Centre of Excellence for Equity in Higher Education is the international leader in bringing together practitioners and academics and innovatively driving policy and practice.” (Associate Professor Anna Mountford-Zimdars, University of Exeter)
