This scheme is CLOSED - UNDER REVIEW

The University of Newcastle Industry Collaboration Support Scheme supports UON researchers to develop new research collaborations with partner organisations to the point of submitting a proposal for external collaborative research funding. Funding schemes supported by the Collaboration scheme include:

The Research and Innovation Division may, at any time, add other schemes to this list in order to be responsive to new funding initiatives.

Grants will be awarded for up to one year in the range of $3,000 - $10,000 and funds must be spent within 12 months of award.

The Collaboration scheme may support activities which will result in a collaborative research proposal, including:

  • workshops and meetings between researchers and partners to develop proposals
  • attendance at industry conferences where the researcher is taking an active involvement in the conference
  • support for the development/redevelopment of a funding proposal
  • collection of pilot data to demonstrate the feasibility of the larger proposal. Applicants must provide a statement indicating the research objectives of the target proposal to which the data would contribute

The following selection criteria are weighted equally:

  • Performance evidence of the researcher(s) capacity to undertake and manage the proposed research collaboration to the point of submitting an external collaborative research funding proposal
  • Evidence of a new collaboration between a Partner Organisation and the UON which will result in the submission of an external collaborative research funding proposal
  • Evidence that the Partner Organisation has the capacity to contribute to an external collaborative research funding proposal
  • The potential for success in obtaining external collaborative research funding and
  • Value for money.

To be eligible as a Partner Organisation the organisation must meet the eligibility requirements set out in the relevant external (eg ARC or NHMRC) Funding Rules
