PhD Scholarship

The Josephine Dun Scholarship is made possible through the generous support of the Australian Communities Foundation Miette Skiller Scholarship Fund.

This is a $5,000 per annum scholarship for up to a maximum period of 3.5 years (full-time equivalent), however any previous tenure undertaken towards a research degree may be deducted from this duration.

The research area is in Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Gliomas (DIPG).

Conditions of the award:

  • Meet the admissions criteria for entry into the University of Newcastle, Doctor of Philosophy (Medical Biochemistry) program
  • Maintain full-time enrolment unless approval received by the school/faculty, the Dean of Graduate Research and if applicable the donor to study part-time
  • Maintain on-campus enrolment unless approval received by the school/faculty, the Dean of Graduate Research and if applicable the donor to study off-campus
  • If your circumstances change (e.g., change of supervisor, change in program, leave of absence, change of research topic, or withdrawal from study), your eligibility for scholarship may be affected;
  • Scholar may be required to provide additional reports to UON Graduate Research as requested

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia;
  • Be interested in studying a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Medical Biochemistry;
  • Meet the eligibility criteria for entry into a University of Newcastle Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program;
  • Interested in researching Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Gliomas (DIPG);
  • Expression of interest and required documents submitted by the closing date

The expression of interest must include the following required documents:

  • A short cover letter expressing interest and any experience in the research area of Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Gliomas (DIPG);
  • A curriculum vitae;
  • Copies of Higher Education qualification transcripts and completion certificates
