PHD Scholarship: Optimisation and Multi-Agent Systems (Computer Science)

A PhD scholarship opportunity is available within the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science for a student to study Optimisation and Multi-Agent Systems in the Hunter Valley coal industry, under the supervision of Dr Alexandre Mendes.
The PhD student will conduct their studies in collaboration with a local coal supply chain company, the Hunter Valley Coal Chain Coordinator (http://www.hvccc.com.au), researching computational techniques for the optimisation of its operations.
The main focus will be on the development of a multi-agent approach for coal transportation between mines and the Newcastle Harbour using freight trains.
The scholarship is for a period of three and a half years. The scholarship value is $26,288 p.a. indexed each year.
