VCs PhD Training Priority Scheme
Australian Government Research Training Program Scholarships – Vice-Chancellor’s PhD Training Priority Scheme.
The University offers a limited number of these prestigious Australian Government Research Training Program funded scholarships to selected domestic applicants, who have demonstrated a proven capacity for research, academic merit and potential to develop the requisite skills to make an ongoing impact in their academic careers.
These scholarships include the opportunity for an academic training experience beyond the research experience. The Academic Career Preparation (ACP) pathway associated with this scholarship scheme enables candidates to develop a portfolio of academic experiences, including core competencies in university teaching.
This scholarship round aligns with the Vice-Chancellor’s aim of retaining the best and brightest students in the region. Priority is given to the class of applicants who, within the past two years, have received a First Class Honours from UON or an equivalent UON award as determined by the relevant School or Faculty. Please note that applications from current HDR candidates who commenced prior to 1 September 2019 will be considered after all other applications if scholarship funding allows.
The relevant dates for this round are as follows:
- Closing Date for Nominations (by UON academics): 12 March, 2020
- Nominees Formally Apply for admission and scholarship (if you are a current student or applicant please email email@example.com for advice on whether a new application is required): 12 March, 2020
- Latest Outcome Date: 30 June, 2020
- Latest Commencement Date: 31 July, 2020
Nominations must be made by a UON academic using a completed Australian Government Research Training Program – Vice Chancellor’s PhD Training Priority Scheme Nomination Form, including the Statement of Intent. For each round, UON academics are limited to one nomination each. Nominees are also required to Formally Apply for admission concurrently.
