The Distributed Computing Research Group (DCRG) is focused on investigating distributed and network computing concepts and implementations.

The Distributed Computing Research Group (DCRG) is focused on investigating distributed and network computing concepts, implementation of distributed computing in a multi-disciplinary context, and eResearch. The DCRG has forged close collaborations with the Schizophrenia Research Institute (SRI), the Centre for Prevention, Implementation and Population Health and Health Behaviour Research Group (HBRG) of which A/Prof Henskens is a Principal Researcher. Our group is part of the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Newcastle, Australia and is headed by Associate Professor Frans Henskens.

Some of our research areas include:

  • Web services and transactions
  • Distributed and grid computing
  • Peer-to-peer networking
  • Component-based software design
  • Computer-based professional educationand decision support
  • Internet-based medical applications
  • Software agents
