A primary problem after stroke is an inability to coordinate movements. This proposal aims to:

  1. identify which stroke lesion sites cause coordination deficits of reach-to-grasp movements, using brain imaging, biomechanical and motor impairment measurements;
  2. track and explore mechanisms of recovery over two years and
  3. use a new portable device to measure coordination in a proof of concept study of a new intervention for coordination.

Expected outcomes are new knowledge and technologies to increase understanding of recovery of motor control after stroke, which will underpin new treatments to improve movement, leading to a greater productive participation in life.
