The Advanced Energy Integration Initiative

The Centre for Advanced Energy Integration is part of the major collaborative initiative through the NUW Alliance. The major joint initiative brings together leading researchers from University of Newcastle, University of New South Wales and University of Wollongong to harness the institutions strengths and critical mass to explore one of the most significant challenges impacting the Australian economy – the stability of our energy future. The collective capacity is inclusive of the following Institute’s and Centres:

University of Newcastle

The Priority Research Centre for Frontier Energy Technologies and Utilisation (PRC FETU) conducts cutting edge research on emerging energy technologies, with a focus on the abatement of greenhouse gases and sustainable energy production.

The Newcastle Institute for Energy and Resources (NIER) addresses challenges of the rapidly emerging issues of resource sustainability, productivity and competitiveness associated with energy and resources infrastructure.

University of New South Wales

Digital Grid Futures Institute is focused on future-proofing global energy systems to ensure reliable, secure, affordable, sustainable energy.

ARC Research Hub (ITRH) for Integrated Energy Storage Solutions is taking a systems-based approach to energy storage covering a broad range of storage approaches.

UNSW Energy Institute unites energy activities across UNSW with industry, government, community stakeholders and other research institutions.

University of Wollongong

Australian Power Quality & Reliability Centre conducts applied research into a wide range of power quality issues including network and equipment performance, monitoring and reporting and standards. Research is also being undertaken in the areas of energy technologies, electric vehicles and energy systems integration.

The Sustainable Buildings Research Centre (SBRC) is a multi-disciplinary facility that addressing the challenges of sustainable and energy efficient new and existing buildings

Industry partnerships play a critical role in research collaboration. The Centre is working with industry partners to develop collaborative research projects, deliver targeted applied research programs and education opportunities, support competitive research income generation and PhD students.
