Australian Higher Education Sector
The Centre of Excellence for Equity in Higher Education (CEEHE) is committed to making significant contributions to the lives of students through equity research and widening participation practice. CEEHE is an active member of national practitioner organisations and contributes to high-quality research within the Australian sector through publication in Australian journals and international journals on the Australian Sector; innovative research projects (including those funded through the National Centre and National Priority Pool scheme); and by bringing together researchers and practitioners in networks, programs and symposia.
The national research agenda
Professor Penny Jane Burke in her role as Director and Global Innovation Chair of Equity brings extensive expertise to the development of a national agenda on equity, including through her work as a member of the Federal Government Department of Education's Equity Research and Innovation Panel and as an expert advisor to signifcant research projects.
Bringing research and practice together
The National Writing Program for Widening Participation and Equity Practitioners is a key element of CEEHE's work at the national level. Now in its third year, the Australian Writing Program has worked with many practitioners to link equity research and widening participation practice, leading to several high-quality articles in the International Studies of Widening Participation Journal—bringing the practitioner's voice into the academic sphere. The Writing Program represents a space of reflexive discussion and research that brings together committed practitioners to build on, rethink and innovate in equity and widening participation work. You can read more about the program and past projects here.
