The parties committed themselves to establish FEDUA’s first Community partnered “Research Hub” (Alternative Futures Research Hub -AFRHub) based at the University of Newcastle, with the purpose of developing and conducting transformative research projects. Future Societies Workshop kicks off Memorandum of Understanding with the New Economy Network Australia
The Alternative Futures Research Network will create a new research hub in partnership with the New Economy Network Australia.
The Alternative Futures Research Network (AFRN) of the Faculty of Education and Arts has signed a memorandum of understanding with the New Economy Network Australia (NENA) to establish a research hub based at the University of Newcastle.

Alternative Futures Symposium was held in Sydney 22-23 November 2018. It contained 18 presentations by 22 presenters (incl. two Key Note Speakers) most of them with a distinguished academic and activist background. Five non-academic civil society and cooperative networks and organizations from NSW and Interstate participated in the event.
