Cyber Security PhD Scholarship

This research aims to develop architecture and algorithms that enable software systems to self-protect against cyber security threats. The work will investigate access control, privileges, keys and their enforcement in a range of systems and devices, including cloud servers and Internet of Things (IoT). The project will deliver proof-of-concept case studies to validate the models and techniques developed.  It is envisioned that the outcomes and outputs of the project will be specifically applicable to IoT and autonomous cyber defence scenarios.

The Advanced Cyber Security Research Centre at UON offers students opportunities to acquire knowledge and advanced training in a high growth sector in Australia. Project supervisors Prof Vijay Varadharajan (UON) and Dr. Anton Uzunov (Defence Science and Technology Group) are internationally recognised for their expertise in cyber security research, development and industry application.

Eligibility

Suitable for Computer Science, Elec Eng or Mathematics graduate, or other tertiary qualification with related interest/experience. Australian citizenship required. Basic knowledge of cryptography and security techniques will be helpful.

Scholarship conditions

The successful applicant will be awarded a full tuition fee scholarship, a laptop for research studies and a living allowance of $27082 pa. The scholarship may also include a relocation allowance (up to $1,500) and overseas student health cover. PhD scholarships are for 3½ years.
