Tariqul Islam is presently working as a research associate, focusing on coarse mineral particle flotation in the novel CoarseAir separator. Before joining the University of Newcastle, Australia, he spent 4 years at the University of Queensland, Australia, where he did his PhD under the supervision of Professor Anh Nguyen; and 3 years at the University of Malaya, Malaysia, where he did his MEngSci under the supervision of Associate Professor Poo Balan A/L Ganesan. He received IPRS and HIR scholarships for his PhD and MEngSci, respectively. His primary research interests are in the phenomena of bubble formation, bubble-particle interactions, and coarse particle flotation.
