Career Summary

Biography

Lani De Silva is an Associate Lecturer in Emergency Department/Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy at The University of Newcastle Department of Rural Health (UONDRH), based in Tamworth. In this role she is involved in the clinical supervision and placement based education of physiotherapy students in the Emergency Department of Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital. Lani also coordinates and supports physiotherapy placements in Armidale. In addition Lani contributes to interprofessional teaching of medical and allied health students and staff. 

Prior to her current appointment at UONDRH, Lani worked in a private practice setting as a sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapist in Darwin for five years. She also spent one year working as a remote physiotherapist in seven remote Indigenous communities across the Northern Territory. Given her varied work experience Lani is very passionate about remote and rural healthcare, education and outcomes.
