Career Summary
Biography
Danidu Kudagamage joined CERAR in 2011 and is involved in environmental projects undertaken by CRC CARE.
I am working as Technical Officer with GCER-University of Newcastle and is a member of the Matcare production team to treat contaminants such as perflurorchemicals from aqueous film-forming foam(AFFF).
I am a member of the Permeable reactor barrier Plant and AFFF (aqueous film forming form) at Defence sites in South Australia. I am conversant and trained in handling contaminated and chemical compounds as per MSDS during remediate of AFFF and TCE contaminated water. I have extensive experience in waste disposal management and operation of the plant and have adhered to all safety practices at work
Leading the ground water and soil sampling team for GCER. I have expertise in submersible, split and bladder methods on ground water sampling and push probe, hand core and mechanical core methods in soil sampling.
Conduct soil gas sampling and soil gas well installation. Use the Tridion- 9 portable GC-MS (Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry) to analyse TCE and hydrocarbons.
I have extensive experience in arranging necessary logistics for equipment’s packaging, storing and transport, permits and passes, vehicles, OH&S safety gear for Field Sampling work. I am responsible for safety audits related to instrument calibration, equipment’s parameters checking, preparation of laboratory compounds for site remediation, ground water sampling, troubleshooting and processing COC samples, labelling, storing samples at cold room lab and dry labs for samples analysis, transporting the samples and handing over samples to labs.
I have contributed to the organization in all the CRC CARE projects in developing new technique and methods to improvise efficiency during sampling works. The new technique has been put in to practise at work site and this has helped GCER in sampling productivity improvements.
I have carried out Column studies at GCER lab to remediate TCE (trichloroethylene) and AFFF(aqueous film forming form )from ground water. I have developed new filtering techniques and sample collection methods and this has improved the accuracy in the analytical results.
I have provided Technical advice and support to establish a Biopile (Depth model and half slice model) to bio degrade hydrocarbon contaminated soil by bacterial degradation.
I have provided assistance in PhD research experiments on in vivo bioavailability studies (swine and rat) on poly aromatic hydrocarbons and heavy metals
I am a member of the air quality control team at Edinburgh defence site and used TSI air flow system
My professional training records at work include the following;
Have participated in safe handling of compressed gas cylinders workshop from BOC, Australia
Have participated in safe use of radioactive materials workshop from UniSA
Has undergone professional training in laboratory spill management and chemical hazard management from UniSA
Have participated in Successful science writing and editing course from Biotext, Australia
I hold dogging, crane, fork lift, working in heights, confined space, white card and defence yellow pass.
Completed senior first aid certificate from enable college, South Australia
Completed CPR training from 4Life training, Australia
Completed Fire safety awareness training from Fire equipment & training, Australia
