The Wollotuka Institute takes a holistic approach to engage with Indigenous students and supporting their journey while at the University of Newcastle.

We strive for a culturally affirming and positive academic environment that encourages and inspires students to grow academically, personally and culturally.

Wollotuka operates across all University of Newcastle campuses located on different Aboriginal countries on the east coast of Australia. Our teams are located  in the Birabahn Building on the Callaghan Campus, the Library on the Ourimbah campus and NUspace on the Newcastle City campus, as well as making regular visits to our Port Macquarie Campus.

The Institute's all-Indigenous staff, with outstanding educational and personal qualifications, support the aspirations of Indigenous students while recognising cultural differences and valuing the diversity of cultural backgrounds.

Student Advancement Team

The Wollotuka staff share a wealth of experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The Student Advancement team collaborates with all faculties across all campuses of the University of Newcastle. The team can provide you with proactive advice and guidance on programs, courses, scholarships and University support services. They are your key contact for all things relating to individual student success.

Our staff will provide you with opportunities to network with other like-minded Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who may experience similar challenges and rewards along their learning journey.
