Why did you join the University Council?
Tertiary education is one of the great transformational enablers at both an individual and national level. It is an honour to return to the University in a role where I can contribute to providing world class education opportunities for others.
What do you look back on most fondly when it comes to your own education?
The education I received at the University of Newcastle underpinned opportunities in my career that I could never have imagined. I am a grateful alumnus.
Biography
Noel Cornish has extensive international and Australian business management experience.
He is currently Chair of AML3D Ltd and the Hunter Valley Coal Chain Ltd.
His former roles include Chair IMB Bank, Chair Snowy Hydro Ltd, National President Ai Group, Deputy Chancellor University of Wollongong and Chair University of Wollongong Malaysia. Executive roles included President of Northstar BHP LLC in Ohio USA and Chief Executive Australia and New Zealand Bluescope Steel Ltd.
In 2017 Noel was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for significant service to business as an advocate for industry policy and development, to tertiary education administration and to the community.
