Library access and support

We know service continuity is important during the current COVID situation and the related changes to teaching and learning at the University. Library staff are working hard to deliver the same high quality service regardless of your location and the disruptions that you are experiencing. We've updated our services to make access easier and social distancing possible.

The Libraries are open for University of Newcastle students and staff via swipe card only. Access resources, study spaces, PCs or WiFi. Check Library hours for opening times.

Library Service Zones are now Live Virtual Help Desks. You can speak to Library staff via a device at the desk to get help with ebooks, research, journal articles, where to get help with referencing and any other library-related assistance.

If you prefer to stay at home you can access online support from Library staff through Ask the Library for chat, email, or text.

Connect with us for support whether you are on or off campus through our virtual Library Live service. We have increased the number of sessions for you to speak face to face with a Librarian online. Book a Library Live session at a time that suits you.
