A very UON Christmas
Twas the week before Christmas, and across UON,
The year’s flurry and bustle drew close to the end
From Port thru’ to Sydney and across to the Coast
The year’s work was done (well, okay – almost!);
In the glass towers of NeW Space and in Singapore too,
Hallways grew quiet, but with still much to do;
The buzz in the gum trees seems louder and faster,
As the mozzies are carolling their summer sonata;
Yes, the classes are over and the marking is done,
But before closing the door for that break in the sun;
Let’s take just a moment and reflect while we’re here,
On the many small milestones that create a big year.
On student successes creating thoughts on a page,
And proud family cheers as grads cross the stage;
The grants and the funding – whether major or small –
Or the elegant proof making sense of it all;
For the project that landed, and the campaign that swayed,
For the futures we’ve changed and the difference we’ve made;
As we wipe down the lab bench and switch off the screen,
UON can take pride in the year that has been.
Time to pack up the ute - or the van with the tow,
And head down the road towards the sunshine or snow;
After a year that has tested but brought out our best;
Happy holidays to all, and to all - a good rest!
